Magnetism and spin-orbit physics

The group is developing methods to treat and understand magnetic phenomena involving spin-orbit coupling from first principles. In particular:

  • Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions
  • Quantum anomalous Hall  insulators
  • Magnetoelectric coupling
  • Magnetism and excitons in 2D materials

 The group members continuously contribute to the development of the electronic structure code GPAW, which is the main work horse for our calculations.
