Research

 

The neutron scattering group focuses on improving the understanding of the interrelation between the magnetic properties of materials and their functionality in:   

  • High-temperature copper-oxide superconductors
  • Magneto-electrics materials.

We are also involved in studies of problems of a more fundamental nature, for example: 

  • Quantum critical phenomena in low-dimensional spin systems
  • Frustrated magnetism
  • Development and study of novel materials.  

Our research activities have a significant international component. We collaborate with Scientists from all over the world, and frequently travel to international large-scale facilities to conduct neutron and x-ray experiments.

Methods 

Neutron diffraction and spectroscopy, hard x-ray diffraction, muon spin rotation, transport, magnetization and susceptibility measurements

In-house experimental facilities

Cryogenics 16T magnet for magnetic and transport measurements.
