We carry out research in modern physics, especially in four main areas: sustainable energy, materials, quantum technology and biophysics. Our focus is both to acquire greater knowledge about basic scientific problems and to conduct research oriented towards use in societies and companies.

Diamond quantum sensors measure neuron activity

A recent study by European scientists shows that highly sensitive sensors based on colour centres in a diamond can be used to record electrical activity from neurons in living brain tissue.

From useless plastic waste to valuable oil

Researchers and business people have developed a new technology that can make oil from plastic waste that cannot be recycled. This oil can be used to make new plastic and other oil-based products. The technology was recently utilized in a new commercial facility in West Zealand, Denmark.

In a new Nature paper, two nanotechnology approaches converge by employing a new generation of fabrication technology. It combines the scalability of semiconductor technology with the atomic dimensions enabled by self-assembly.

About 100 students form the PhD School at DTU Physics. As a PhD student you work in one of DTU Physics nine research sections.
