Department of Physics
DTU Physics is leading the construction of the BIFROST spectrometer at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden.
The activities within Magnetism and Quantum Materials range from fundamental studies of magnetic order and fluctuations in correlated electron materials to applied studies of nanoparticle-composite materials.
Most materials and minerals have hierarchical structures. We make 3D movies of complex, multi-scale materials processes in real time, which allow us to develop better approaches for optimizing materials and their applications.
Our goal is to understand the fundamental physical phenomena underlying chemical reactions. This understanding enables developments in solar-energy harvesting, new insights in photocatalysis, and new functional materials.
Two world class software packages McStas (Neutrons) and McXtrace (X-rays) are designed to simulate any and all neutron and X-ray scattering instruments and experiments.
3DIM is a Danish competence center for X-ray and neutron imaging, home to the national infrastructure ‘DANFIX’, the center of excellence ’SOLID’, a regional analysis center ‘QIM’ and an industry portal.
