ENI frontiers award 2022 awarded to Jens Nørskov and Ib Chorkendorff for research in renewable energy and energy storage.
The award honours the best research and innovation in the field of renewable energy sources and energy storage. Nørskov and Chorkendorff have led a long-term research effort on electrochemical synthesis of ammonia from nitrogen and water.
The insights gained from this research are fundamental for the future of green ammonia, which can be used for production of fertilisers, and also holds great potential as a renewable energy carrier.
Jens Nørskov and Ib Chorkendorff say: “We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious prize, and we would like to share the honor with the many students and postdocs who have worked on this project”.
