Center for Nanostructured Graphene, CNG, is a Centre-of-Excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation (Danmarks Grundforskningsfond). The goal of CNG is to study two-dimensional nanostructures with novel physical properties, which in turn can be used as a platform for basic science studies, as well as for devices with new functionalities.

The research carried out at CNG is cross-disciplinary and it involves theoretical and experimental research from many branches of physical, chemical and engineering sciences.  The host of CNG is the Department of Physics at Technical University of Denmark.

CNG has an opening for a two-year theoretical postdoctoral position, starting in August 2019, unless otherwise agreed with the successful candidate.

Responsibilities and tasks
The tasks of the postdoctoral researcher focus on theoretical studies of van der Waals two-dimensional crystals (graphene, hBN, TMDC’s, combinations thereof, etc) which may exhibit emergent physical phenomena, such as superconductivity, correlated insulator behaviour, or topological effects.  The theoretical work is to be carried out in close collaboration with experimental groups at CNG which have excellent skills and facilities for fabricating such structures.

Qualifications
The successful candidate has a Ph.D degree in theoretical condensed matter physics, and in the ideal case documented theoretical research on van der Waals structures and/or collaboration with experimental groups.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
