Multiple postdoctoral positions are available in the group for Functional Materials Imaging in the Section for Nanoscale Materials and Devices at DTU Physics. We are a young and energetic group with a vision to unravel fundamental structure-property relationships in functional materials via new and original characterization and analysis methods. The positions are funded by an ERC Starting Grant (#804665), which aims to develop next generation methods for studying polar and functional materials. The positions focus on:

  • Design and development of instrumentation for high-resolution, coherent x-ray diffraction microscopy and/or associated reconstruction software.
  • Structure-property relationships in functional materials, in particular relating to the role of residual stresses and lattice defects (domains/twins, dislocations, etc.).

The projects involve close collaboration with theoretical and experimental groups, both within DTU and international. Regular travel to international synchrotron facilities is anticipated.

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent in a technical field, such as physics, chemistry, materials or mechanical engineering. Ideally, candidates should have experience with structure-property relationships in solid-state materials (e.g. ferroelectrics, multiferroics, or other functional oxides), or with materials characterization (e.g. x-ray scattering, electron microscopy or other materials imaging methods).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years. The starting date is flexible; either ASAP or in 2021 - please state desired starting date in your cover letter.
