”And the DTU Young Researcher Award goes to…”

At the PhD Graduation Ceremony on November 19, Mikkel Vilsbøll Larsen from bigQ at DTU Physics was awarded a DTU Young Researcher Award for his outstanding PhD thesis on continuous variable cluster state quantum computing which he successfully defended in April. We are so proud of Mikkel and from the whole of bigQ we shout out a loud ‘congratulations’ – loud enough that he will hear us over in Canada where he is currently continuing his work on optical quantum computing at Xanadu Quantum Technologies.

Through his thesis work, Mikkel has significantly contributed to accelerate the development of optical quantum computing, both experimentally and theoretically. He has produced scientific results of the absolute highest quality as also signified by his publication record including papers in both Science and Nature Physics.

It has been a great pleasure to have Mikkel as PhD student in bigQ and the entire center has greatly benefitted from his obvious research talents as well as his joyful personality. We wish Mikkel all the best in his future research career.
