On May 9, Iyad Suleiman defended his thesis on Long-distance continuous variable quantum communication, in which he presents the results of his hard work on transmitting squeezed light robustly through kilometers of fiber channel and other important experimental progress towards using such nonclassical continuous variable states for quantum communication. Iyad's project under the bigQ DNRF Center was also supported by DTU under the joint alliance between University of Queensland and DTU and was carried out in collaboration with the group of Prof. Tim Ralph from UQ.

The thesis and defense was examined by Alessandro Zavatta from CNR-INO, Italy, Christoph Marquardt from the Max-Planck-Institute for the Science of Light, Germany, and Jonatan Bohr Brask from DTU Physics. They recommended Iyad for the PhD degree with assessments such as "The amount of work realized during the 3-year PhD period is impressive..." and "Considering the challenging character of the project which involves the realization of a very complex experimental apparatus, the impact is significant.".

Congrats, Iyad!
