Luminescence physics

Luminescence arises from a complex interaction of radiation with material.

We are interested in understanding processes and electronic transitions during application of heat, NIR-visible-UV light, and high ionising radiations (photons and charged particles) to the dosimeter, and on the defects responsible for a particular emission.

The effect of radiation quality on luminescence response is also investigated, with an eventual purpose of refining dosimetry for martian and terrestrial luminescence dating.
