Machine learning is becoming an important tool to understand and design materials at the atomic scale. 

This Physics Evening Lecture will focus on how machine learning can help us analyse and understand transmission electron microscopy images, where the imaging occurs in "phase contrast", sometimes making direct interpretation difficult.  We will also touch upon using machine learning to guide the search for new materials, and to accelerate quantum mechanical calculations of structures without reducing the accuracy of the calculations. 

The lecture will be based on the research in the section Computational Atomic-scale Materials Design (CAMD) at DTU Physics.
