Photocatalysis for water splitting

This set-up is used to evaluate the photoelectrocatalytic activity of new materials for water splitting. It consists of a 1000W Xe lamp as the light source as well as a filter wheel and monochromator for selecting different incoming wavelengths from the solar spectrum. This light can then be directed into a photoelectrochemical cell equipped with gas inlets and sampling ports allowing the gaseous products to be measured using gas chromatography.
