What is an industrial PhD?

The Industrial PhD is cooperation between you, a company and DTU concerning a research project. Your working hours are shared equally between the company and DTU. You will be assigned supervisors in the company as well as at DTU so you get both insight in the company’s workday and at the same time achieve the relevant research related education and professional discussion.

The research is often closely linked with a specific issue that the company wish support to solve. Therefore, after the three-year period you will not only achieve an academic scientific degree at a higher level but also experience that your results can make a visible change in the business community.
