research

Our research focuses on experimental and theoretical studies of fluid flows in a variety of physical and biological systems. We work currently on three main topics, namely plankton hydrodynamics, sap flow in plants, and instabilities and structures in free surface flows. The problems that we consider are typically strongly non-linear and involve processes like vortex shedding, flow separation, and fluid-structure interaction, which are of fundamental importance in complex systems physics and challenging to address theoretically. We gratefully acknowledge support for our current work by the Danish Council for Independent Research through research grant (7014-00033B), the Villum Foundation through the Centre for Ocean Life, the Carlsberg Foundation, and Brødrene Hartmanns Fond.
